Introducing Our New Line of Stationery Products
We are pleased to announce our new line of BECOME booklets “Aristotle.” These light weight and durable booklets were inspired by our BECOME: a pop-up film event that took place in Los Angeles last June and the teachings of philosopher Aristotle who famously wrote that story structure was critical to developing a proper narrative. So, we listened and developed three new notebooks that capture the essence of his thoughts and will aide future writers organizer their story ideas from the beginning.
More about BECOME - The event bought out local aspiring screenwriters, filmmakers and other film professionals are an afternoon full of education and entertainment. On hand for this inaugural event were many luminaries of the film and television industry including cinematographer Hans Charles, who screened his new film “1 Angry Black Man”, which tells the story of Mike Allen who is eight week away from graduation from and New England liberal arts college. The story unfolds in his African-American Literature class while Mike is feeling a range of emotions - one of them being “anger", Stan Rosenfield, celebrity publicists, Arian Simone, author, motivational speaker and celebrity publicists and the talented Liz Nord, editor of “No Film School” rounds out this stellar speaker line-up as the event moderator.
It is quite nice reflecting on my childhood and seeing that I am now doing professionally what I loved to do as a child. It was very clear to some around me, if not myself at the time, that storytelling, community outreach and oddly enough, event planning (I threw some really cool tea parties as a kid) would play a huge role in my professional life and ultimately shape the philosophy of ABK Creates work for our clients and our original productions.
So, as the launch of our online platform, www.thedistrictofcreatives.com and our BECOME: a pop-up...series, draws near (launch expected in 2019) the three themes of storytelling, community outreach and event planning are front and center.
It is our goal to use our platform and events to explore the people and places around the world shaping the creative landscape. We want to share their stories to inspire others. We want to shine a light on creative projects around the world reviving communities and we want to plan events where introductions lead to real opportunities and collaborations.
Join our in Los Angeles as we launch www.thedistrictofcreatives.com with an awesome line-up of today's hottest film talent! www.become2018.com
A Story Worth Sharing
(Photo Credit: Madam CJ Walker Archives)
Another productive day in the field filming with author A'Lelia Bundles. Today, she walked us through what life was like for A'Lelia Walker living in New York during the 1920s. During this time, A'Lelia Walker was still working for her mother, navigating an active romantic life and hosting fabulous parties at the Dark Tower (located at 108-110 west 136th Street.) A'Lelia Walker, the daughter of Madam CJ Walker, was well known for her ardent support of black artists pouring out of New York during the Harlem Renaissance. She hosted many events featuring black artists, poets, musicians, photographers and writers - who would go on to define the Harlem Renaissance.
Rose Garden Announcement
Yesterday, President Obama alongside Vice President Biden, announced Merrick Garland the Supreme Court nominee to replace Justice Antonin Scalia on the high court. As a true political junkie - the topic of the Supreme Court has always been at the forefront of my mind throughout this election season and I am glad that it is now receiving the proper attention. Furthermore, I hope the nomination process is able to play out as set forth in Article II, Section 2, Clause 2 of the United States Constitution the (Appointment Clause.)
Side Note: The Rose Garden was absolutely beautiful yesterday with the Cherry Blossoms in full bloom and the wonderful weather just made it a perfect day.
